Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to support pupils who may face disadvantage and are at greater risk of underachievement. This includes pupils eligible for free school meals, as well as children who are looked after or have previously been looked after by the local authority.
The purpose of this funding is to improve progress, raise attainment and ensure that all pupils can access a high-quality education and achieve well across the curriculum.
Funding is allocated based on the number of eligible pupils. While the allocation is clearly defined, schools have the flexibility to determine how it is used. This ensures that support is carefully targeted, based on a precise understanding of pupils’ needs and the strategies that will have the greatest impact.
Our approach is rooted in high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider strategies that remove barriers to learning. Funding is planned strategically, implemented consistently and reviewed regularly to ensure sustained impact.
All schools are required to publish how much funding they receive, how it is spent and the impact it has on pupil outcomes.
The report below outlines our current Pupil Premium strategy, including funding allocation, planned spending and the impact of our work.
